Lecture 2

Many people begin using the internet as individuals.  Individuality appears to be the key in today’s society.  Acting as an indiviadual makes it easier to find other individuals with similar interests and this is how networks form.  The inetrnet can give people the confidence needed to be themselves, or even the opportunity to be what they want to be -they can completely change their identity if they want (identity fluidity)

Normal offline hierachies don’t appear to be as prevalent and many would argue that they don’t exist, although others argue that new hierachies simply replace the old ones.

Overall though, i believe a more equal social interaction apeears to occur.
